In a Facebook post on the Podcast Movement community page, Blubrry CEO Todd Cochrane posted a note that Blubrry has seen more RIAA takedown notices over the past week than it has in the past two years combined.

Cochrane says music owners are waking up to the fact that unscrupulous podcasters have been putting full tracks of music in there shows as if they were a radio station.

The current rule for podcaters is that if you do not have permission you cannot play music. It’s pretty black and white.

Cochrane says some of the takedowns are against Indie podcasters and some are actual radio stations that have not taken music out of the podcast that they are broadcasting over the air. He believes big penalties are coming.
